Beyond the Burn: How to Reuse Your Candle Jar
In life, everything that has a beginning also has an end. And this applies to your candle too.
One day you will reach that point too. Your candle will burn down to the end, the fragrance will fade, and the last bit of wax will be gone. You'll be left with an empty vessel. You might think about throwing it away to make space for another candle. But before you do, consider giving it a new life.
Our candle jars are designed to be more than something that simply holds a candle. Once you've finished burning your candle, the vessel can become part of your home in a completely different way.
And before you decide what its next life will be, you'll need to prepare it.
Here’s how to clean your jar and a few ideas for what to do with it next.
1. Remove the wax
Start by removing any remaining wax from the bottom of the vessel.
The freezer method
For an easy method, place the jar in the freezer for a few hours. The wax will harden and contract, making it easier to loosen and remove.
Once the wax has separated from the sides, gently lift it out using a blunt tool. Avoid using anything sharp that could scratch or damage the glass.
The warm-water method
If you'd rather not wait, you can soften the remaining wax using warm water.
Place the candle jar in a bowl or sink and carefully add warm water around the outside of the vessel. Allow the warmth to soften the wax, then gently lift it out once it has loosened.
Avoid using boiling water or exposing the glass to sudden temperature changes, as this can cause it to crack.
Never pour leftover wax down the sink. Once the wax has hardened, dispose of it according to your local waste guidelines.
2. Clean the vessel
Once the wax has been removed, wash the jar with warm water and a little dish soap.
Use a soft sponge or cloth to remove any remaining wax or residue. If there is still some wax around the wick holder, gently loosen it with a blunt spoon or similar tool.
Give the vessel a final rinse and allow it to dry completely.
And that's it.
Your candle jar is ready for its second life.
3. Give it a new purpose

Pens, pencils, brushes, scissors, matches, paper clips. Small things tend to accumulate around our workspaces. Your empty candle jar makes a simple holder for them, keeping the things you reach for most within easy reach.
For a Focus candle, it can even stay on your desk as a small reminder of the ritual that started there.
Store the little things
Use your jar to keep jewellery, hair clips, keys, coins, or other small objects that usually end up scattered around your home. Place it on your bedside table, bathroom shelf, or next to the door.
Sometimes the simplest storage solutions are the ones we end up using most.
Bring a little green into your space
A candle jar can also become a home for a small plant or herb. Try a succulent, small herb, or another compact plant that suits your space. If the plant requires drainage, place it in a smaller nursery pot inside the candle vessel rather than planting directly into the jar.
The result is simple, functional, and gives the vessel an entirely new purpose.
Make it part of another ritual
Not everything needs to be practical.
Fill your jar with incense, dried flowers, matches, or anything else that belongs to one of your daily rituals.
You could even use it to keep small notes, photographs, or objects that hold a memory.
Because sometimes, the value of an object isn't what it can hold. It's what it reminds you of.
Beyond the burn
We believe that a candle shouldn't necessarily become waste the moment the flame goes out.
The scent may be finished, but the vessel can continue to be part of your space.
